ZANU PF’S FAILING SYSTEM WILL NOT FIX ZIMBABWE
The 2023 elections are not just about voting. They are about something bigger — good governance, which has been missing in Zimbabwe for a long time. People need to understand this before they cast their vote. The ruling party, ZANU PF, has been in power for decades, and under its leadership, the country has faced many problems. The party has been accused of being corrupt, criminal, and only interested in staying in power. People who are not yet registered to vote should see this as a reason to register. Voting is not only a right, but it can help save the country’s constitution, which has been repeatedly violated by ZANU PF.
Good governance is important because it ensures that democracy can grow. It helps create a system where the government’s powers are separated. This means no one person or group has all the power. It also ensures that everyone is treated equally under the law. With good governance, power would be given to local governments, making sure that decisions are made closer to the people. There would also be an independent judiciary — a court system that is not influenced by politics. Judges would be chosen based on their abilities, not because of political connections. Institutions like the National Prosecuting Authority and the Anti-Corruption Commission would work properly. Right now, they are seen as failing and a waste of taxpayers’ money. If good governance were in place, these bodies would hold corrupt officials accountable.
Good governance would also prevent leaders from becoming greedy. Zimbabwe has seen leaders who use their power to take public resources for themselves. This kind of behavior hurts the country. It stops the economy from growing, and people suffer as a result. Instead of leaders focusing on improving public services like hospitals, schools, and roads, they focus on enriching themselves. Zimbabwe’s natural resources are being plundered for personal gain. Good governance would make sure that corruption is a risky business with very few rewards, discouraging those who want to get rich at the expense of the people.
Right now, the public is suffering because of poor service delivery. Things like clean water, reliable electricity, and good roads are not available to many Zimbabweans. This shows that the government is not investing in the infrastructure the country needs. Good governance would fix this by ensuring that the government provides these services to the people.
The government of ZANU PF has tried to create a system where it can remain in power without being elected fairly. They want a one-party state where they control everything, but this is not how democracy works. A one-party state would allow them to continue looting and taking resources for themselves. However, good governance would stop this plan from working. It would prevent ZANU PF from using its power to enrich itself while the people of Zimbabwe suffer.
In short, Zimbabwe needs a government that works for the people, not just for itself. The current government has failed to do this. The 2023 elections are a chance for Zimbabweans to change things. It is a chance to bring in good governance, which will bring transparency, accountability, and integrity. Good governance will put an end to the corruption and mismanagement that have brought the country to its knees.
Zimbabwe is at a crossroads, and the choice is clear. If people want change, they need to vote for good governance. This will ensure a better future for the country, with fair elections, independent courts, and a government that provides the services the people need. The people of Zimbabwe deserve a government they can trust, one that respects the law and works to improve their lives. Now is the time to make that choice, and it starts with the vote.
