CCC DENIES FAKE LETTER ABOUT RECALLING OFFICIALS
In recent news, Zimbabwe’s opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has denied a false letter that has been shared on social media. The letter claims to be from Songezo Tshabangu, who used to be a member of the MDC-T and the PDP political groups. The letter wrongly says that CCC has recalled its members of parliament and councillors. But the CCC has said that the letter is fake and should be ignored.
The CCC explained that Tshabangu is not part of their party. They said he is the person behind this fake letter. The party also said this was a plan to cause problems for them, organized by people who want to damage their image. The CCC accused Tshabangu and a group called Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), which they claim is linked to the Central Intelligence Organization (CIO), of trying to disturb the party’s unity.
This problem happened shortly after CCC decided not to attend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s state-of-the-nation speech in parliament. They believe that this upset Mnangagwa’s government and is part of the reason behind this false information.
Gift Ostallos Siziba, who speaks for CCC, said, “The Citizens Coalition for Change has noticed letters on social media, which are pretending to be from the party’s interim Secretary-General. These letters say that the CCC has recalled councillors and Members of Parliament, but this is not true.”
Siziba also said, “We ask the public to ignore these letters because they are false. The CCC has not recalled any of its newly elected representatives. The person who wrote these letters, Sengezo Tshabangu, has never been part of the CCC. His last known political activity was with the MDC-T and PDP. He is known for his involvement in placing fake CCC candidates in Bulawayo and Matebeleland North.”
Siziba went on to say that the party is taking steps to deal with Tshabangu and his group. He said that this was an attack from Zanu PF, the ruling party, because they are upset about losing the 2023 elections. He also said that it was a weak attempt to punish the CCC for not attending the opening of parliament on October 3, 2023. He encouraged their members of parliament and councillors to continue doing their jobs as they were elected to do.
The CCC’s strong denial of the fake letter shows how serious they are about protecting their party and making sure their elected officials can do their work. The party remains focused on its goals and will not be distracted by false claims like this one.
Tshabangu has not said anything about the accusations against him. He has remained silent as the CCC continues to address this issue. Even though Tshabangu has not responded, the CCC says they are committed to fighting against any lies or misinformation that could harm their party or confuse their supporters.
The CCC also asked the people of Zimbabwe to stay alert and not believe everything they see on social media. They said that these types of false letters are an attempt to make people doubt the CCC and the work it is doing for the country.
In Zimbabwe, the political situation is always changing, and the CCC is a strong voice for those who want to see a different government. The CCC continues to challenge the current leadership and calls for change in how the country is run.
In the end, the CCC’s quick response to the fake letter shows that the party is ready to protect its reputation and its elected officials. The CCC will continue to fight against any actions meant to weaken or divide it. As the political scene in Zimbabwe keeps changing, the CCC remains a strong opposition party, working for the people who voted for them and standing up for their rights.
