Zimbabwe On The Edge Of The Precipice As ED Reportedly Mulls A State Of Emergency!.

The situation in Zimbabwe is highly politically charged as the incumbent faces an unprecedented threat to his rule from his own party amidst a reckless and unpopular bid to extend his rule to 2030 and beyond.

An ‘insurgency’ led by prominent war veteran Blessed “Bomshell” Geza has left the beleaguered ED reeling and scurrying for an effective response to contain the open rebellion.

The timing of the rebellion could not have been worse for ED, as it has come at the very time that his relationship with his powerful Deputy, longstanding ally and coup kingmaker Constantine Chiwenga has appeared to rupture/unravel publicly after long periods of behinds the scenes simmering over the 2030 agenda.

The past few days also seen ED demote and reassign his then commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwa ahead of the threatened mass uprising threatened by Geza and his backers on 31march 2025.

Sanyatwe has been appointed a minister of sports to replace the IOC bound Kirsty Coventry while he in turn has been replaced by Lieutennant General Matatu,an ex-Zipra figure in his former portfolio.

Sanyatwe’s demotion and reassignment has been placed within the context of an increasingly distrustful incumbent who is fearful of his Deputy springing a coup on him with the backing of other key military figures and Sanyatwe,who is perceived to be the latter’s staunch ally.

In the aftermath of Zanu PF’s central committee meeting yesterday, ED reserved his harshest criticism yet against his internal political opponents-menacingly accusing them of treasonous” behaviour and for the first time, openly conceding that there were plots to topple him well threatening to strike back with the full might of the state’s arsenal.

It is against that backdrop and of another You Tube video by @BlessedGeza threatening escalatory steps coupled with dramatic images and news reports of alleged torched cars at the premises allegedly corrupt businessman associated with ED that murmurs of him mulling a declaration of a state of Emergency have emerged which have now been reported. What would the consequences of a state of emerged be?

This would mean an immediate curtailment of civil liberties. In addition to this, we are likely to see ED swiftly and ruthlessly targeting all suspected ringleaders and sympathisers of Geza’s “operational well as a dragnet approach towards all Geza and by association, Chiwenga and even other genuine opposition figures and their supporters, such as @Chamisa and @jobsikhala and many others. He is likely to deploy a Blitzkieg approach, with arbitrary arrests,detentions,disappearances and even extra judicial killings all not ruled out with the goal being to send a chilling message and cower the population into overnight submission.

ED and Chiwenga’s shadow . There can be no doubt that ED’s actual target is likely to be Chiwenga himself as,needless to say, this is all really about the 2030 Agenda and those he considers to be formidable threats to its realisation.

ED is perfectly aware that as long as Chiwenga is in the picture, he faces a colossal obstacle to his goal. He has already lobbed thinly veiled ominous threats against him during the two recent press conferences he addressed after the two party meetings,so he is clearly the proverbial Elephant in the room.

it’s clear that ED is mulling making such a move, perhaps egged on by some of his hawkish and excitable elements yet ,being the wily politian he is, he realises that such a move is fraught with incalculable levels of risk which would almost instantly plunge Zimbabwe into a civil war,so for now it that fear and prime survival instincts which are holding him back from succumbing to his own worst excesses and limiting him to only going as far as repeated sabre rattling.
